The Green of the Garden Viewed
Through Taisho Era Glass

Asahikan was built with “Yoshino-daté” architecture, a traditional style of this area that makes use of the natural slope of the mountain. Thanks to this architecture, when guests head from the entrance up to the 2nd floor, they are greeted by a beautiful inner garden.

The Scent of Japanese Umbrella-Pine,
a Warm Bath Full of Water from the Mountains

Warm water from the mountains fills the bathtub made of Japanese umbrella-pine to the brim. Along with the steam drifts the soft scent of the Japanese umbrella-pine. The unique warmth stays with you, even after the bath. Groups of guests take turns using the bath, and small families can enjoy it together. Whether as a single traveler, a family, or with a group of friends, please take the time to soak in the bath and relieve some of the wear and tear of your journey.

Works of Local Artists

Asahikan is located in Kawakami Village, Nara Pref., which has long been the heart of Yoshino Forestry and is known for high-quality Yoshino cedar lumber. Asahikan has many works on display from local artists who use Yoshino cedar and cypress.
